Date of Sale

APRIL 2024. Dahlia sales have been very competitive (think Taylor Swift tickets) and some varieties will sell out in seconds. Yes, seconds! Just because you may have tubers in your cart does not mean they cannot be purchased by someone who has completed the checkout process faster for the same variety. Seconds count so I would suggest purchasing the one or ones you want the most first, then return to finish shopping. All products say “Sold Out” until I hide the shop page to enter inventory.

shipping

UPDATE: Orders made through April 27 will ship by Tuesday, April 30 unless there is a drastic change in weather. Currently, all orders are packed and most are in boxes, waiting for shipping labels. Orders headed for locations with multiple nights in the low 30’s/high 20’s will not ship until nighttime temps are above freezing for multiple consecutive nights.

All US orders of dahlia tubers will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail. 1-4 tubers=$10.40  5-15 tubers=$18.40  16-30 tubers=$24.75.

I ship by USDA hardiness zones and will start shipping to West coast and South West states, followed by Southern states, then Western and Midwest states, ending with far North states and the upper East Coast. I will do my best to keep this page updated with shipping info so you’ll know where I’m at. Orders will be fulfilled only as they are received, I will not ship early or out of turn. I am aware that planting times vary, and we will make every effort to get packages shipped as quickly as possible, but we are working around two full time jobs and doing the very best we can. I keep an eye on the weather and if I need to make a change based on an act of mother nature I will do so. The shipping process will take several weeks to complete. Threatening emails regarding shipping times will not be tolerated. If you have a valid concern over the timeliness of your package, please do reach out with your order number and the name the order was placed under. I take your purchases very seriously and I need you to trust that I am doing my very best to get your package to you as soon as it’s safe, but also in turn. If you absolutely need dahlia tubers immediately after you order, your local garden center is a great source.

For questions about your order, please contact me through email, and include your order number in the subject line. For combined shipping you must reach out within 2 days of placing your order with the name and order #’s to be combined.I will only combine shipping for multiple orders placed under the same name and directed to the same address. Email alicia@bloomtideflowers.com Any excess shipping paid will be refunded at shipping time.

Important: If you don’t email me I will assume you don’t mind paying extra shipping and I won’t guarantee your orders will be combined.

Local Pick Up

For locals who would like to pick up their orders, you will shop as normal and pay for shipping. When your order has been picked up, I will refund your shipping charge. Unfortunately, this platform defaults to the lowest charge, so I either have to get rid of Apple Pay, or do this workaround for local pickup. A lot of my customers use Apple Pay, so this is by far the easier option. I’m sorry if this causes a problem. I will contact you through email with dates, times, and instructions for pickup.

Payment

Visa (credit & debit), MasterCard (credit & debit), Amex, Discover, Apple Pay. For faster checkout, it may help to create an account and store shipping and payment information. If you previously made an account on my website, it did not carry over to the new one. CA residents will be charged tax on tubers purchased at the rate of 7.75% as required by law.

Will my selections be safe in my cart?

NO. I’m sorry to say that adding tubers to your cart will not keep them safe from someone else buying them. This platform does not support cart holds. The quickest to checkout gets the tubers. My best advice is to make multiple orders starting with the tubers you want the most.

All purchases are final. We will not cancel or give refunds once orders are placed.

what about virus?

Our #1 priority is to grow healthy dahlias that will in turn, make tubers that will grow into healthy dahlias for you. We invest heavily into our soil health, text regularly with our beneficial insect guy (his name is Erik and he’s awesome), sterilize our our tools with 10% bleach solution in between each plant when cutting flowers and when digging and dividing, spot test with AGDIA test strips, pass our farm inspections by the Humboldt County Department of Agriculture, I inspect plants constantly throughout the growing season, and I aggressively cull plants that show signs of disease or poor performance. Let's not talk about the 29 N-Force I dug up because I wouldn’t stop until I saw unblemished green leaves. We can take every precaution and follow every step in the book, but nature is going to nature and a plant that appeared virus free on our farm may show signs in your garden the next season, or even be infected upon sprouting and show symptoms soon after. I do appreciate feedback, and hearing any performance issues you may experience. By purchasing our tubers you accept that virus is not 100% avoidable.

What should I expect?

I do not promise pretty tubers, or tubers of a certain size. Tubers can be pinky or fist sized, smooth or wrinkly. Our prices do not reflect the physical beauty of a tuber. Keep in mind, dahlia tubers are perishable products that have matured several inches beneath earth’s soil amongst crawling critters, then yanked up, sawed apart, handled, and flown hundreds of miles. My priority is to provide you the material to grow a healthy plant that will reward you with a bounty of beautiful blooms. I sell single divided tubers from dahlias grown on our farm, packed to the best of my ability. I do not resell dahlia clumps.

Do you guarantee your tubers?

All tubers are guaranteed to have at least one eye. They have been checked multiple times before you receive them but keep in mind that they might still be dormant and the eyes might not be obvious. Some varieties are slower than others to wake up. Do not think that because you don’t already see a sprout that it will not grow. The best way to find out is to plant at the proper time. Tubers are only guaranteed to have an eye and be healthy enough to grow. They aren’t guaranteed against poor growing practices, damage in the case you may pre-sprouting or using them to take cuttings, acts of mother nature, or anything else that goes wrong once they have left my hands. If they do not grow and are found to be blind and the tuber is intact, you will receive a refund for that tuber. I’m happy to troubleshoot with you and answer any questions about the growing process.

You have 7 days from receipt of order to contact us with questions or concerns.

Using the links provided on the contact page, include your order number and if applicable, pictures and, or a short video detailing the source of your concern. We all have different experience levels growing dahlias, and I have no way of knowing yours when you reach out, so please understand that I will likely respond with questions to try to figure out the situation.

A note from Alicia:

This is a wild time to love and purchase dahlia tubers! I know firsthand the disappointment of losing a tuber, or two, three, four, or five that I really want, and I know that I don’t have enough of some that I offer for everyone who wants one. But I try. The dahlias I select and grow to sell are years in the making. I purposely hold back on many cultivars to increase my stock until I have what I feel, for our farm size, is a nice amount to go around.

This website has been created with the very best intentions to host a sale that is both successful for my business and for your gardens this summer. I hope you can snag at least one treasure and that the process runs smoothly. All of the trial runs will not be the same as when the site goes live, so I ask for your patience and trust that I am doing my best.

By purchasing dahlia tubers from Bloom Tide, you acknowledge and accept these policies.
